BabyScout is a free parenting information website. We believe your privacy matters, so we have written this policy in plain language. We collect as little data as possible, we never sell your information, and we are transparent about what we use and why.

BabyScout (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a free parenting information website available at babyscout.app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use BabyScout, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

We keep data collection to a minimum. Here is what we collect and why:
Anonymised usage data
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use BabyScout — for example, which pages are most visited, how long people spend on the site, and what country visitors are from. This data is anonymised and does not identify you personally.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-onor by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser settings.
Cookies
BabyScout uses the following types of cookies:

Account information (if applicable)
If BabyScout offers sign-in functionality, we collect your email address and the authentication method you choose (email/password or a social sign-in provider). This is handled securely by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). If you create an account, any personalisation data you save (such as a due date or your baby's date of birth) is stored in Firebase Firestore and linked to your account. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Contact messages
If you email us, we will store your email address and the content of your message in order to respond to you. We do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent.
3. How we use your information

We retain data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

BabyScout is intended for adults — parents, caregivers, and those expecting a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a minor has provided personal information to BabyScout, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS. Account data stored in Firebase is protected by Google's enterprise-grade security infrastructure.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to inform users. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
