Third Trimester Checklist: Everything to Have Ready Before Baby Arrives

The final stretch is here. This is everything you want ordered, washed, and ready before your due date arrives.

The third trimester has a way of arriving faster than expected and the nesting instinct is real. Suddenly you want everything sorted, washed, folded, and ready. This checklist will help you do exactly that.

The nursery

By week 32 you want your sleep setup ready. If you are using a bassinet in your room for the first few months, have it assembled and positioned before your due date. If you are setting up a crib, get it done now while bending and assembling furniture is still manageable.

A night light that does not emit blue light is worth having ready, especially for the early weeks of night feeds. Blue light suppresses melatonin and a warm glow keeps both you and baby in a sleepy state during those midnight changes.

Birth preparation

A birth ball is one of the most underrated late pregnancy tools. Sitting on one throughout the day keeps baby in an optimal position and is genuinely more comfortable than a sofa in the final weeks. It is also useful during early labour for relieving pressure and supporting movement.

If you are planning a vaginal birth, perineal massage from week 34 onwards has good evidence behind it for reducing tearing. A dedicated massage tool makes the practice easier.

The Birth Deck is a beautiful card set to go through with your birth partner. It covers comfort measures, positions, breathing techniques, and conversation prompts to help you both feel prepared.

Hospital bag

Have your hospital bag packed by week 36. We have a full guide to this separately, but the short version is: pack for the birth, for the first night, and for coming home. Do not forget things for your birth partner.

For postpartum

Stock your bathroom in advance. A peri bottle, some cooling maternity pads, and a postpartum belly binder are things you will want the moment you walk through the door.

The final kit

If someone is looking for a practical gift for your third trimester, this kit is thoughtfully put together for exactly this stage.

Take a breath. You are nearly there and you are more ready than you think.
