Baby is now the size of a pumpkin
Welcome to Week 38. Your baby is now considered full term and could arrive at any time. For many parents, this week feels like living in a constant state of anticipation. Every cramp, contraction, and unusual sensation may leave you wondering if labor is beginning. Your baby continues growing and gaining weight, but the biggest focus now is preparing for birth. Many mothers describe this week as both exciting and exhausting.

Frequently asked questions
Can labor start without warning?
Sometimes labor begins gradually, while other times it can feel very sudden. Both experiences are normal.
What is the mucus plug?
The mucus plug helps protect the cervix during pregnancy. It may come away as the cervix begins preparing for labor — this can happen days or weeks before labor begins.
Is it normal to feel emotional?
Absolutely. Many parents experience a wide range of emotions during the final weeks.
Should I still pay attention to movements?
Yes. Your baby should continue moving regularly every day. Contact your provider if you notice a significant decrease.
