Week 39
Trimester 3Days 38+0 to 38+6
Baby is now the size of a small watermelon
Welcome to Week 39. You have reached one of the biggest milestones in pregnancy — your baby is now fully developed and ready to be born. From this point forward, many parents feel as though they are living in a constant state of readiness. Some babies arrive this week, others prefer to stay cozy for a little longer. Both are completely normal. Your baby's job now is simple: continue growing, continue preparing, and decide when it is time to meet you.

Frequently asked questions
Is it normal not to be in labor yet?
Absolutely. Many healthy pregnancies continue beyond Week 39.
What if I haven't dilated?
Dilation is not a reliable predictor of when labor will begin — many women dilate slowly over days or weeks, others very quickly.
Should I still monitor movements?
Yes. Daily baby movements remain very important — contact your provider if you notice a significant decrease.
Why do I feel so emotional?
You are approaching a major life event while also dealing with physical discomfort and uncertainty. Strong emotions are extremely common.
