Sleep Regressions
Why sleep suddenly gets harder and what to expect
A sleep regression is a temporary period where sleep suddenly becomes more difficult. Common signs include more night waking, short naps, difficulty settling, and increased fussiness. Most regressions are linked to development and do not last forever.
4 Month Regression
The most common sleep regression. Your baby's sleep cycles mature and become more adult-like, often leading to frequent waking, short naps, and changes in sleep patterns.
8–10 Month Regression
Often linked to major motor developments — crawling, standing — and growing separation anxiety.
Toddler Regression
Can occur during language bursts, potty training, major life changes, or developmental leaps.
